Attorney Anissa Klapproth

Anissa M. Klapproth is a litigation attorney and is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. She was born and raised in Enfield, Connecticut, and currently resides in Wallingford, Connecticut, with her husband, son and two daughters.

Attorney Klapproth received her bachelor’s degree in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of Connecticut with a minor in Criminal Justice. After UConn, she earned a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of New Haven. It was here that she developed her passion for criminal law while participating in an internship program with the United States Attorney’s Office in the US District Court in New Haven. After graduate school, she earned her Juris Doctor degree from the Quinnipiac University School of Law. At Quinnipiac, Attorney Klapproth furthered her knowledge and appreciation of criminal law through hands-on, practical experience by working as a legal intern in the State’s Attorney’s Offices in New Haven, Hartford and Meriden Superior Courts.

Attorney in CTAfter Law School, Attorney Klapproth worked as an Assistant Court Clerk, first in the New Haven Criminal Court, and then in the Hartford Civil Superior Court. As a Court Clerk for the Connecticut Judicial Branch, she became fully acquainted with criminal and civil practice and procedure through observation and hands on participation in court proceedings. She was responsible for handling criminal and civil dockets for a variety of Judges, and gained valuable insight into how the system works.

Attorney Klapproth started her career as an associate litigation attorney with a law firm in West Haven, Connecticut, in 2010. As an associate litigation attorney, she handled a very busy criminal defense practice and was in court almost every day. Attorney Klapproth was involved in cases from arraignment through jury selection, and has litigated evidentiary hearings on pre-trial motions to suppress and motions to dismiss. She has handled a variety of cases ranging from DUI’s and Domestic Violence to Robbery and Felony Sexual Assault. In addition to her criminal defense work, she was also involved in assisting on plaintiff’s personal injury matters, which included motor vehicle and premises liability actions.

Attorney Klapproth went on to work as a litigation associate for larger, insurance defense firms. During her tenure as an insurance defense litigation associate, Attorney Klapproth gained invaluable experience and insight on all aspects of personal injury and civil litigation cases from the defense perspective. She was responsible for her cases from inception to disposition, which included conducting discovery, taking depositions, drafting pleadings and arguing motions to the Court. As a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney, this experience gives Attorney Klapproth a unique understanding and advantage when handling personal injury cases.

Attorney Klapproth has expanded her practice to include family law cases, which range from dissolution of marriage, child custody issues, child support, post-judgment modifications and child welfare cases involving DCF. As a litigator, Attorney Klapproth is capable of handling cases to conclusion in Court. She also offers mediation services for those family law clients who prefer to settle their cases without going to trial in Court.
